There are different types of interviews that several large companies like the GWC Valves USA uses since they can be classified according to their structure, their content and the way in which the interview is administered. When it comes to the structure of an interview, it can be an unstructured interview or a structured interview. Unstructured interviews is a conversational style interview and the interviewer pursues points of interest as they come u in response to questions. A structure interview on the other hand is an interview that follows a set sequenced questions getting the interviewee to loosen up at the beginning with easier questions followed by more difficult ones at the end. Between these two interviewing styles, there is a mixed and semi-structured interview which is when both formats get combined.3

The content of the interview is really important for the interviewer to prepare for the interviewee in order to make sure they ask all the right questions related to the job opening and the position. There are situational interviews, behavioral interviews, and panel interviews for the content of the interview. Situational interviews is when you are given a series of job-related questions that focus on how you would behave in a particular situation related to your job. Behavioural interviews are a series of job-related questions that focus on relevant past-job related behaviours.

When you administer the interview, interviews can also be classified based on this; is it a face-to-face interview or is it technology-aided by video conference or by phone, and is it a panel interview or one on one interview. A panel interview involves the candidate being interviewed in a group by several people in order to get the different opinions of higher management on an applicant. A panel interview is often used by organizations since it is efficient and cost-effective way of selecting candidates for the job opening.
